Brilliant Tom, thanks for that. It looks a very good sized swarm

I think you might find the greenhouse has a little too much ventilation for tomatoes :)

Yes it was a good sized swarm. It was lovely watching it approach the hive and the increase in noise as it filled the garden something else.

Lovely stuff, thanks for sharing. Where will you put the hive? You will hardly leave it in the place within the glasshouse frame or will you ?

I plan to move then over the weekend and have a couple of apiaries they could go to. Will inspect them before the move.

Great stuff, I saw one pass by yesterday, didn't stop at my bait have though. :-/

Aside, where do you get the plastic have lids?

They are large 60cm sq gardening trays and very useful for covering spare kit especially when you have all your spare rooves in use. They are particularly useful for standing supers in during extracting and moving supers around, saves on loads of drips on the floor.

Lovely video Tom, you really captured the mood, beauty and awesome thing that an arriving swarm is. I could watch this many times and never get bored!!

What a wonderful experience.....thank you for sharing...I would love to see it live...perhaps one day I will be lucky too.

Indeed! Spotted them a while ago and have bought one for under supers. Did think they'd be useful as lids too! :)

During the winter months it will be something I will keep going back to and always good to have a video or two to look at when it's cold and wet.

The best bit was stood in the centre of it without any protection although after I thought it could have been interesting if the queen happened to settle on my trouser leg :icon_204-2:

Have been trying now for several years and just missed out on a couple of times but like you say got lucky this time.

Great video!
By far the easiest way to catch a swarm!
It really is a magnificent experience.
I managed to walk along in the cloud of bees of the first swarm I experienced to where they landed.
The number of bees and the noise was tremendous, but as you say in the video, at no point did I feel in any danger, totally placid.

Got mine at the garden centre at Broadbridge Heath. Perfect size for national boxes. Probably too big for a warre hive

And yesterday another huge swarm flew over my house and I think it settled near the top of an oak tree . . . . . . . :-(
