Would likely be more in line with north America or southern Canada down here, I like to make up nucs for over winterering in late August and through September, after they have collected the honey crop.

I made one or two up towards the end of October, more by accident than design as I had the queens in the truck ready to requeen hives which turned out not to need them so utilised the queens by pinching a couple of frames of brood from strong hives. I've marked them out and will be interested in their condition come spring.

Yes, also make up several through October, don't know if they would be classed as nucs though, more like packages (anything from 5 to 8 pounds) onto drawn combs, smaller lots into six frame nuc boxes, bigger lots into wooden standard nationals, given a queen and fed.

Which is why I run classes. Hands on classes.

There is no greater satisfaction than seeing a colony with a number of full supers on due to YOU moving a larvae.

Worst colony I ever have experienced came from a queen from a so called expert breeder so.... never assume they are better than you.

Oh, and did I hear a lame excuse somewhere?

PH

You should try being a real teacher then call it an excuse.

There are good suppliers of queens in the uk.
The fact that one queen turned out to be bad does not change that does it?

Get a grip beebopper.

Of course there are good ones and also as I pointed out some real **** too.

I teach people how to graft how to work starter boxes and how it all goes together.

So what is your problem with this?

Yes and I buy from the goods.
The point you make that a single queen is duff from an expert breeder is irrelevant as this can happen to anyone but far less likely if you go to somebody like say for example exmoorsuperbees.
Don’t see why I need to get grip for pointing that out.

Cabin fever is definitely setting in. Must remember to stop posting like so many people do as it is simply a waste of time.
