Regular recommendation is masonry paint, but Dulux Weathershield is less chalky than cheaper versions and gives a harder finish. Better still, gloss will bond to poly and give the toughest seal. Murray McGregor (5000 colonies at Denrosa Apiaries) has tried them all and settled on gloss.

Abeelo broods come nicely painted though in garish shades so already uv proetected, I have to though slap some over paint on as the shades are too stand out & obvious. I tend to use earthy Brown , Green or the Willow hue.

My last stock of shades came from the local Homebase that closed down, everything at the end was going cheap so managed to save on some tins.
So hanging out at the local Wilko's might come up trumps then.

anything labelled 'reduced' or the cheapest
Very common in Wales hence the bright yellow farmhouse with the maroon woodwork on the A483 just past the sugarloaf going north. It protects the house and who cares what the colour is :laughing-smiley-014
