Dead easy, stop cutting your lawns and replace with wildflower meadows...
Win win...only need cutting once a year :)

The local council really boils my p*ss... when we where kids the surrounding playing fields and school fields never got cut till they where over ankle height..these fields used to be full of every bumble be and butterflies that you could think of feeding on the clover/dandelions and false dandelions later on in the year.. fast forward several decades.. now these fields get cut every fortnight along with all the beneficial flowers that the bumblebees and other insects need for survival...then the council go and spend a fortune on supposedly bee friendly flowers (that look nice) but are of little use to pollinators.. another brainwave by this silly council was to plant several miles of a central reservation on a busy dual carriageway with bee friendly plants.. imagine how many pollinators get splatted by wagons and cars on a daily basis..

This is Wales. Nobody cares

Its the remit of Natural Resources Wales now and unfortunately they cover virtually everything environmental/agricultural and work on a shoestring with little enthusiasm for prosecusions. They're great at expressing outrage and being quite draconian about rules but slink behind a hedge rather than swinging out the legal team when those rules are flouted by anyone with the clout to fight it in court in almost all cases, they have a budget to take on the barest minimum as an example to others and will normally pick on the weak. We'd all be complaining if they were fully staffed and equiped at the waste of our taxes I'm sure

You’re right of course. Nobody in their right minds would argue the toss about a hedge. They got their act together for a river full of poisoned fish though. Then went and spoiled it all by spraying the Balsam after flowering.

A farm just up the road from me sold during the middle of summer, it was small about 150 acres had the usual boundary ditches separating all the small fields , now not one ditch stands, the entire farm is one big tillage field , some of these greedy bas.ard farmers make me sick clearing out ditches, draining marshy fields and getting substidies for it too.
Don't get me started on substidies they get paid if they have a bad year which is every year poor mouthing is all they do........

On a brighter note, i noticed today that an estate by one of my apiaries has just planted about 30 acres of woodland on 4 parcels of land previously grazed by sheep. No idea yet what theyve planted but generally they take their conservation seriously and are well advised so id be surprised if it wasnt well stocked. I might even see some benefit from it in 15 or 20 yrs. Actually, just not having the sheep there will have some dividend much sooner than that.

A very similar situation with me as well. Its now one full year with no sheep. Where the hillside has been turned over and planted with mixed trees there has has been quite a good growth of local wild flora. Helped it along a bit with a pile of Borage, Phacelia and other seeds earlier this year.
