I am unable to find the book, but to the best of my recollection the board depicted by Snellgrove had eight openings......he seemed to not like his fellow beekeepers!

Alas memory is a fickle beast. In my 4th edition (1939) Snelgrove, plate II opposite page 25 shows a diagram of his board with only 6 entrances with one side being solid.
However, it should have been made with 8 entrances so you could never make a mistake in positioning the three required entrances away from the hives main entrance. An easy thing to get wrong if not concentrating.
Which is what I did when I made mine.
I figure you are ahead of your time!

If I could only remember what became of my copy...got it from NBB 30yrs or so ago.

Q C, Your not on your own with the eight openings thought.

Basically a Snelgrove board is an intermediate floor but instead of one entrance it has eight

Thank you at least senility has not taken over completely!

8 doors..... four on top.. four on bottom..... top is 12mm bottom is 9mm... so could be used for TBS or BBS depending on which way up it is used.
Amazing what relics can be found in the back of the bee shed!

My edition is signed by the author!not worthy

Must be a Chinese copy!!!

When I show it to new beekeepers I will give a caveat that this item may or may not come with 4, 6 or eight openings and has been the subject of hot debate among the pedantic of beekeepering peoples!!

If you knock out the mesh you can use it above the qe as an upper entrance!
