As you have a lot more experience than the likes of me, this would just be our personal preference.

would probably use different bees as its nearly impossible to work out their thinking as to why they did kill her?

Just a quicky ..is it worth trying another mated Queen into a nuc when they killed the last one..or should i sack the idea and make a new nuc from other hives to accommodate the new Queen..
Steve.

I would make a nuc up from three different hives and make sure all the brood is capped.....

What method of introduction did you use?
How long was the nuc queenless?
Did you keep the nuc in the same apiary as the donor colony so the older bees could fly home and you would be left with young bees?

Can't blame the bees for sure either, the queen may just have been a duffer
Ref bleeding of the older foragers, I'd move the nuc again before giving them a new queen. Make sure they still have emerging brood etc..

After reading this i know what i may have got wrong with this particular Nuc..
I made three nucs up with mated Queens on the 13th July all the same way...three days later i had to close this now Queen - one up as it was getting robbed heavily ..on inspection through the clear crown board it had few bees in there and at the same time my swarmy colony went for it again on the same day..i spotted the clipped Queen on the ground and give her my boot..i then took a frame of brood from the hive with no Queen cells and gave it to the nuc..i also shook two frames of bees from the now Queenless hive into the nuc..all three nucs where closed up and moved 65 mile away on the same day..

Sorted..I shook the Queen - nuc out and took three frames of sealed brood from three different hives and also shook extra bees in there..left them for 1hr till I cooled down as soon as the caged Queen went into the nuc the bees where fanning there nasonov glands so it looked promising..I will check in a few days and hopefully she will be running around in the nuc.
