Hi all....
I acquired 2 Paynes poly brood boxes and 2 Paynes poly supers in a job lot I bought. These are brand new and never used or painted so I'm ok with the painting of these.

So to make use I bought from Lincoln bee auction a painted Paynes poly roof, floor and brood box. The brood box is split so may get put to the back of the shed and used in dire emergency.

I want to repaint the roof and floor in a darker colour than they are now. Do I need to rub down before or not? I am going to use masonary paint.

Thanks

As long as its not over a gloss paint then masonry paint will stick if you give them a good wash first.
Gorilla glue or similar repairs cracked poly perfectly

For added strength on poly repairs e.g. a full dropped super :( you can drill and add dowels at the join. Works a treat with Gorilla glue.

Any exterior wood glue works very well with poly.

Really? Are you talking PVA?

Is it as good as polyurethane/gorilla glue for bonding poly?

Do you need to clamp to ensure a bond?

I would have thought polyurethane/gorilla glue would way out perform PVA as it bonds, but more crucially, expands to fill any voids.

PVA doesnt expand and needs clamping. Once clamped with no voids (dovetails for example) its hard to beat.

Fixed poly stuff with Titebond wood glue years ago and it's still good.
No clamping involved.

Interesting.

I have a 5 litre tub of titebond but always use gorilla glue for poly.

I will have to give that a go..

cheers.
