Question...I lost my bees from my hive over the winter as several people did.
I put out sugar water recently and now have several bees hovering around my hive but will not go in. If I put a new QUEEN in my hive, will it attract bees and go into my hive? I am new to this, however I will get 3 nucs in early April.

Unfortunately No that does not work.

You could either buy another colony which would include a queen etc
Or clean all the dead bees out of the hive and use the old used comb which you would leave inside the hive.
Find a suitable spot to put it and use it as a swarm trap.

Save your money for now.
Your best chance of catching a swarm will come late April to late June (possibly even into July). If you have a hive with drawn comb, they may be attracted to it and move in. Don't be tempted to move it if they do. Let them settle and start to raise brood.

If getting three nucs next month I would humbly suggest that you get reading some bee books or get on a course with your local beekeeping association. . They are livestock and need proper husbandry, not just bunging in a hive.

Probably not. You probably need a few hundred bees minimum, in summer.

If you have ordered Nucs, I would suggest getting busy getting ready. Especially a drop of study, after all we do not want you losing anymore colonies next winter, so all you can learn now is going to be an asset in the future.

Thanks for all the replies concerning the queen bee question. I have reading a lot and checking info on YOUTUBE. Also attended a class in Savannah, Ga. few weeks back. I should have asked that question then.

You're right. I attended the class as I stated, but learned more from the videos than from the class.

wild bees

I bought a bee package and installed them on 3/29. As stated before, I have wild bees around my NEW HIVE. I removed the old hive. Don't know if they are entering the hive or not. Is this normal as there is no spillage of sugar water? I removed the entrance reducer as temperature is 70-75 here in S.C during the day and around 45 nightly. Also will have 3 nucs on April 13th.

Sort of Ron. If you have any africanised bees in your area they are renown for usurping a hive and taking it over after killing the queen.
