If you add Hivemaker's recipe for thymol mixture into your winter syrup does it make your equipment smell of thymol for ages?

We used thymol years ago and SWMBO reckons she can still smell the thymol on the feeders. If you leave supers on the hives and use the thymol mixture are those supers then useless for honey the next year because of the thymol smell?

We used shook swarm on some hives that had nosema in the spring, and they have done well, but we will be sampling them for nosema before the end of August and I want to use Hivemaker's recipe if they still have issues.

The container I kept the mixture in still smells of it, but none of the hive boxes do. So I wouldn't worry.

.

It might depend on the containers? Cheap plastic would be low on the list of choices, but is relatively easily/inexpensively replaced.

That's exact what it is Rab, cheap plastic, gallon container to hold sugar syrup.

I use 2 litre plastic milk bottles. They smell of thymol for months...
