Sorry Sweetums,I was talking about the fact they will return to the old hive if the Queen does not join them.;)


So they do almost 100% . After one week they fly again away 100% if I do not do something.

And if I dont clip, they rise on their wings and fly away, 100% too.

Yeah! We get so feral hives, best food of varroa! I don't cry. Such is beekeeper's life.

I can't afford to lose swarms this year as I want to keep the neighbours sweet, because otherwise I may not be allowed to keep my bees. If any swarms land in the gardens of those who are frightened of insects I will be in trouble.

So queen clipping and artificial swarm(AS) is the way forward??? Will I need a spare brood body for every hive I have to do AS? and how will I know it is exactly the right time to do it???
