I spent about 10 years living near Bodmin Moor - just outside Camelford. Lovely part of the world. You don't get the hard winters we get further north.

Have a lot of rosebay willowherb here and it is nowhere near flowering yet, and if the weather does not pick up it won't amount to much anyway!

It reached the dizzy heights of about 15 C here today - on mid summers day!

ok thanks for the replies, wish I'd taken a picture as the pollen was so vivid (almost radioactive!) in colour that it matches nothing I've seen from the kind replies.

When I go for next weeks inspection I will take a camera.

Great picture! I love seeing the different pollen colours. I didn't know there were other colours until I started beekeeping. The best I've seen so far are a rich burgundy red, and a luminous lime colour. Nature is just amazing

phacelia tanacetifolia is proably what it is (tansy Phacelia) it produces purple pollen

I always though Rose bay willow herb was more blue then purple?
