Hi folks,

I was thinking about producing a small quantity of cut comb for a few folks at work to try. I was therefore wondering if it's recommended to use unwired foundation or just to let the bees draw out a frame of comb from a little starter square in the top corner?

If you go for a starter strip in the frames you might want to go for half of your frames with just a starter strip. The other half would have full length foundation or be drawn and these would be alternated in the super. This would help the bees draw down the frame straighter.

If you've a suitable wired foundation frame you can tease the wire out, patience required.
Not ideal but does work!

just be aware that the foundation mid rib in this would be very thick and chewy - not so pleasant in the middle of a piece of cut comb...
