Jed if I could look at yours before I buy I would be grateful. No urgency as I have one wooden one and now 5 new national hives, from sales and own built.

Yes, that's what put me off buying one from them last autumn.

paint them with exterior sandtex, I use this & get it made up to the colour I want, it makes gripping poly so much better.
 
I like my paynes ones (now that I have a couple of their top feeders on the way)
One has the feeder cut out, giving me eight frames, and the other two have the feeders blocked off with gaffer tape.
 
My Paynes poly nucs worked very well last year. I had at least four at one time with colonies in... they all grew very quickly into needing full hives by the end of the season. The resulting colonies that I kept all survived the winter. If using the integrated feeder, make sure you put the float in. I did not lose any bees to drowning (others have a very different experience).
