Due to concrete being stronger than my bones and fingernails, I only have use of my non dominant hand for around 3 weeks.
So question is, how do I check hives with 1 hand?
Don't want to injure any bees, but want to make sure all is ok with them.
I can watch the activities outside the hive, but do I need to check internally, or do I just hope until I can safely (for the bees) open up the hives?

Your bees will survive for 3 weeks without being checked I'm sure... I will probably only check once more before winter anyhoo

Ask yourself what you are checking for and do you need to do it or are younonly checking for your own peace of mind!
They will be fine!

A frame stand to place a frame on - so you can view in comfort - is a great help..(for those with two hands as well as those with only one)

I had seen those used on some you tube vids and thought that they looked like a good idea. And now I know what they are called.

Had only read to check every week/10 days. Not read where it said not to, other than winter. Only checking them to see if any obvious signs of problems, but will leave them a bit and keep watching from outside

Only hives I've been checking regularly sice July are the teaching ones at the training apiary.
