Observation Hive Entrance

Hi Poly Hive.

Permanent - for the Summer at least. I was thinking garden shed/gazebo, but cannot find any photos of such a setup.

I gather there is one at Harewood, so may go and have a look.

Has anyone considered one of these German outdoor observation hives? PDF to construction details titled "The bee showcase". With a sufficiently long entrance tube you should be able to do the observing without suiting up ... and being outside there may be fewer problems with "the powers that be".

bees are old school they do astro nav. Havent you see them with their tiny sextants shooting the sun

Looking at lots of diffrent OBservation hives does it make much or any diffrence if the entrance pipe comes out of the bottom or the top of the hive ?

Probably not but makes it difficult for them to throw the rubbish out.
