Quote from Bill........in that some are on a mission - not seeking to help new
players at all.......end quote
And that is just plain unfair!

Tell that to Tom Seeley, they're his "invented" figures.
Whiist Tom's work is quality (dedicated) research there is no way
he'll cite definitives as you use, rely on, there will be context.
The chap is an honest student of the science.

In the last month here, weather has been dreadful. On the first good day, bees swarm. And the rain starts next day - on and off for a week.

Under those circumstances I housed on foundation and fed after 2-3 days (with fondant to reduce risk of robbing). Surprisingly 2 out of 3 with virgins have mated despite the weather and started laying last week when it warmed up.

If I had not, they would not have drawn much if any comb..

I have muted the Australian so I cannot see the rubbish he spouts - a recommended course of action for reading.

Sorry bill I beg to differ on this one , syrup can be a saving grasse in our climate , this summer of ours is turning out to be so variable from one week to the next... Unlike last year when it was stable for weeks on end.
:iagree: We have such changeable weather at the moment. We have gone from floods to sunshine with cold, cloudy and windy weather at the moment. We might get some sunshine tomorrow but who knows. :(

And Milton? He reached exactly the same conclusion a few years earlier simply monitoring the survival of swarms over a period of years. To be pedantic his figure was .27
But what does science know when it contradicts you.

Again there will be context - your insistence in quoting selectively
will have those who actually know smiling quietly.
For contradiction to happen, my friend, a claim has to be made.
You follow that much? No such claim has come from moi.
It is your claim you now quote a contradiction to - serving only
to put on full display you do not know, have no idea, and so simply
follow the bouncing ball of "beekeeping by numbers" owning not
an iota of ability in working through the applied science when faced
with circumstance.
An important facet for Beginners to note as to what not to follow.

It won't matter , nothing will convince him he's wrong.
After all, he was sent by a higher power to "enlighten" us.

That fools grin is because you failed to notice the cause of all those failed swarms.
I wonder, what might have prevented them from starving?
