Evening all. I've just checked the varroa board from my hive. After 5 days, a count of 8 varroa, but lots of "bee bits" - legs, heads, all sorts. Is that normal? I did unite two hives going into winter, and I still see bits of chewed paper on the board; could all the bee parts still possibly be fights between the two colonies during the unite? I dread the thought that it might be because of some other parasite, like hornets, taking up residence ...

Thats another good reason for using the Financial Times pink paper... I would say yes probably.... although I never did understand why my girls propolised a newspaper photo of Elvis onto a brood frame!
