Hello all, this being my first full season with bees I am starting to plan already and will need feedback.
My plan is to get my 2 colonys ready for the oilseed rape.

I also want to increase this year another 2 colonys at least ready for the heather.

After reading Polyhives post on swarming I think I am going to go for double brood boxes, do I start feeding now and try and get them into double brood ready for the OSR and then split them after.:cheers2:

Good luck Simon. As a newbie I can't offer any more than support! We were up that way last September and saw some hives on the Heather moors. Lovely sight.

I feel that you are pitching your sights a bit high.

If you manage two good colonies to the heather, and you have in mind a way of extracting it?, and two good nucs for over winter you will have done well.

Good luck
