I have always thought about having bees. So I just picked up a BS National from Thornes and bought a Nuc from Lawrence at BMH. He is close to where I live and hopefully the bees will be ready soon for collection. I am half way through building the hive today. Location for the hive is sorted and potentially another site too.
Lawrence, if you see this post, many thanks for your 'my first Nuc' series on YT. It is absolutely brilliant.

And what kit did you buy in regards suit, gloves, hive tool, smoker etc. Good luck when your bees arrive.

An interesting first post. Do you have any experience! Only asking be abuse you didn't mention it . Useful to have seen in a hive before your first arrives. Click on the link at the bottom of my post for some tips😁

Thank you for the information. I have completed an introductory course to beekeeping a short while ago. It was fascinating.

Suit is a BBWear
Top quality.

Empire smoker
£70 stainless steel from Thorne or £15 eBay copy?

M2hive tool
That is a hell of a clunky tool - check the blade thickness - and it lacks delicacy. Best for the job is by Jero, a Portuguese manufacturer, no longer available in the UK since the demise of Park Beekeeping but available in the EU. You could use it for surgery or parting ancient boxes because it is light, delicate but v strong.

Are the new adverts in-between posts legit? Had ones on this thread just now for European ladies, a pig petition, Turkish holidays and a Toyota LC250.
European ladies? About five years ago we visited our son in Melbourne and he needed some DIY kit so I googled Screwfix on his behalf. He was immediately rewarded with offers of Russian brides:drool5:. Our son was horrified in case he became labelled as an internet perv.......
