Following on from yesterday's post.
Today I went to sit down for a rest in the garden. Unfortunately a shrub in front of the beehive had grown and obscured my usual view, so I decided to stand close by and watch the activity. I knew water was going in as I had seen the girls at a nearby watering hole(my stone sink filled with gravel and some plants in terracotta pots.) Some overloaded workers with yellow pollen, lots of new workers hovering around and the odd drone flying about and nipping back in.

Then a surprise! Was that a queen? She disappeared back into the hive, maybe not I must be imagining things.

But just n the off chance I got a little camping stool and sat close to the hive among the shrubs. The occasional drone the occasional very dark pollen. The odd bee around my head. There she is again! Hooray! And she's off:paparazzi:missed her. Hope she has a good time and makes it back safe and sound.

lovely weather to be going a-mating! fingers crossed for her:nature-smiley-016:
