New Beek and First Honey

Just had to post as I took my first ever honey off a hive today.

V excited as I was not sure I would get any in my first year. I forgot to get a porter bee escape so brushed the bees back into the brood box. Man they were cross. Only 2 kgs of honey but I wanted to take it off so that I could treat with Apiguard.

Is there anyone in the Otley area with an extractor so that I could spin a few frames. I will try my local association too.

Spin? - if you want honey as opposed to comb honey you've probably got all you'll need in the kitchen!
Cut comb from frame - bung into large bowl and slice to smithereens with sharp knife, pour carefully into sieve over large saucepan - leave on sunny windowsill..........

Or simply 'scrape' the comb back to the foundation and drain/separate. Re-use the comb next year. If only a small area is extracted that way it may help the bees early next year.

the local associations usually have them to hire
