I am in the process of moving two colonies from National to 14 x 12. I squeezed them from double national brood into single brood and put a 14 x 12 of 10 frames of foundation on top on 1 April.

By 8 April 6 frames had been part drawn and both the queens were up there laying well so I reversed the boxes and put a Qx between. Inspection on 15 April showed the 14 x 12s expanding nicely but both national broods (above the Qx) had sealed queen cells ( 3 in one and 1 in the other)!!

Both are now on swarm watch but I suspect the bees are just winding me up:banghead:

Seems like you separated the brood and they have made supercedure cells, not swarm cells. Can't actually tell from here, but that is what I am guessing.

Regards, RAB
