my old nuc - interesting to this bee

So recently went from nuc -> brood box and moved the nuc to the back of the house ready for cleaning.


this bee seemed to be munching away on the propolis or wax on the top of the nuc that was in active service a week ago

maybe it was one of the previous residents ?

Had an empty nuc years ago, the last occupants had decided a full width enttrance was too much and had built a propolis barrier to reduce it to two bee space - there was a huge chunk of propolis there, I meant to take it off and keep it for myself but work got in the way, within a week, bees had cleared it all away for their own hives

thanks for the info ... what do you do with it anyway ?

a mate of mine says he keeps some as it is rumoured to be good for stings ?
