For what it’s worth, I did find a way to look at the phone and I washed the suit. What I didn’t do was really thoroughly check it when I took it out of the machine. I let it dry in the sun and went to the Association apiary. Only one doing my preflight check did I realise that it had opened one of the seams to a tune of about 4 inches underneath my armpit. That was the end of that day.
Upon closer inspection, that seam was just poorly done, and the thread was running too close to the edge of the material. It seems just a small amount of washing just shredded the fabric so it came out from the stitching. 4 inches is not enough for me to unlimber my sewing machine, so I’m doing it up by hand but:
Don’t assume that the suit has washed properly. Always check your suit thoroughly after you take it out of the washing machine!
Next time I’ll know better.
