Moving Queen out of apedia.

I have a couple of Q- hives but also a couple of Q’s in apedias that have only just started to lay (eggs Seen - not yet into larvae). At what stage would you take the Q out to transfer to a Q- hive. Limited space in the 3 frame apedia as filled with stores.

 

[For want of a better word]

As soon as you see eggs..... risk is she may be a drone layer.... just a risk!

I agree, they have a habit of absconding, especially if it gets hot.

cover the roof with a piece of wood raised off the roof with an edge strip..
Helps keep Apidea cooler..
