Moving House 3 miles for how long

I am moving house. Its not far away. When I move the hives 3 miles, how long do I have to leave them there?

I move mine for four weeks and have no problems, once moved a hive for two and a half weeks and many of them flew straight back to the original site

you might get away with a couple of weeks if you put something in front of the hive for them to reorientate to their new position.i moved a hive a couple of hundred yards earlier in the year and placed a small conifer right in front of the entrance and had no problems with them returning to the original site.
