firstly i would like to thank members for their replies as it is much appreciated.

I have done a artificial swarm and have moved house bees away by about 4 metres, the trouble is i want to move the house bees near the original location by about 1 metre.

My thinking is move them over and block entrance off for a couple of days then unblock hive entrance thereafter, does this sound ok.

Again thanks everyone for you replies

I moved my bees after adding a queen on top of a hive that I thought was queenless only to find out a week later that it was still there. I built a screen seperator to protect the new queen if there was an existing queen. After I did the split I moved both boxes to the left by 6' and 9' and I put the weakest one as the closest hive. The first day I had large clusters in the old location. After that most of the returning bees did a large S type return always going to the old location, swing back out and then going into the hive. Very funny to see 3 weeks later.

I did an AS three weeks ago, the second hive was moved to about twenty feet away. As I wanted this hive to be near my original hive I then, over the course of a couple of weeks, gradually moved the hive to the intended spot. A couple of feet at a time with a couple of days in between. It's a pain but you get there in the end!
