Mildew on the top of full frames of honey supers.

Am just in the process of clearing down a couple of supers to extract....but on removing the top super I have found what looks like mould or mildew along the tops of quite a lot of the frames?????
Is that what the black is on the capped honey in frames???

..and what should I do???
Cut it out??....discard it??...uncap it and extract it???

Also.....any idea on the cause...it wasn't there a fortnight ago

I don't think so.... it's along the top of a number of frames.....only a small amount on some...more on others.... haven't seen any moths or the like in there

Did you smoke it heavily?
Would not worry about it anyway sure the honey will be fine.

I can see a squashed bee but do you mean this? Are you blowing embers out of your smoker?

Yeah..... that's what I was trying to show....I have smoked the bees when I'm checking.... hasn't felt like I'm over smoking them...but...maybe I have done that

Yes, I think you are correct. Little touch of black mould. Were the frames well covered in bees before you cleared them or a bit scant?

They were pretty full.... it's a good size colony.

Black mould is a bit ubiquitous, but I don't recall seeing it on recently filled and capped super frames (before now!). Moulds are common in my hives where there are not enough bees to well cover the frames, which are usually the empty outer or lower ones.
