And if you were even higher class, you'd have a man to stand there and take stings for you. If the ladies would dare to try and sting in yoru presence, of course.

two obvious points here about a subset of amateur beekeepers:

1. do you read the telegraph?

and

2. do you have a garden in which you keep bees?

if you answer yes to both of the above then you must by definition be a middle class amateur beekeeper.

"And if you are 1 or 2, not both?"

i was being a bit sneaky there since answering yes to 1. by definition makes you middle (or upper) class.

After a hard morning's slog this has certainly lightened my mood.

thanks guys :D

I read my mams telegraph and keep my bees in her garden does this make her middle class if it does she must be very disappointed in me

We need a poll to sort out who eats Dinner at lunchtime, has tea instead of dinner and supper at bedtime rather than being invited out for supper.

That should wittle it down a bit.

so if you read the Sun and have an allotment you're a pleb!
Actually who cares what the news papers write - a bee will sting you whether you live upsatirs or downstairs.

I dont like being stung downstairs though...
Now I am even more confused.

Bearing in mind the luxury that my bees live in, and the way they are waited on hand and foot, every whim catered for, I suspect it's them that are middle or even upper class. I'm definitely in service, which makes me very downstairs.

I start my smoker off ONLY WITH the telegraph

My bees have a single upper class monarch, several tens of thousand workers with a few neer-do-good dossers living off the state. No middle management at all.

And we wonder why they are so efficient?

Maybe it's the green wellies we all wear to inspect our hives that gets us confused with the middle class. I don't know about you but I'm wearing sandals like a proper poor person next time!
