I've used gaffer tape and it's worked well and the bees have left it alone. If you don't have aluminium tape, try that.

Or you may find aluminium tape in some pound shops. I have a local independent cheapo shop and they have almost every type of tape for a quid (except copper and gaffer).

Yes ... Gaffer tape is smooth so I think they seem to accept it more ...but it tends to peel off in time.

It's only Duct tape that has given me (or should I say the bees) a problem. The photo was only half the problem the other piece was really like a spiders web and there were 20 or 30 bees trapped in the strands - I really felt bad about it. I know it's not many bees in the grand scheme of things but it doesn't make you feel any the less guilty when your stupidity causes even one of them to perish.
