Vaped today and got another wiff when the wind swirled for a second or two so i moved, i am still here though and not spewing my lungs contents into the world, i have vaped over 20 times upto now with no ppe, my best PPE is common sense and wind direction ( Just Saying) ..

What did it smell like & what effect did it have on you?

Mark Mazureck "Mazzamazda" in Portugal got pneumonia last year after breathing in a few lungfulls of the stuff. since then I've upped my mask from a cat 3 disposable mask to a full on rubber one. i was smelling the stuff when treating with my Varrox, now I've just got a Sublimox and you do come in contact with more of the sublimate as its so efficient at blowing it out. its brill, but sure am glad i upgraded to a decent mask! he made a good recovery by the way and i am sure he will be on to tell everyone to make sure you bet the proper filters. its not actually expensive and a seriously good idea!!

Yes i agree Millet, a lot is common sense, sadly lacking in some cases.

The time someone is sat in their Dr's surgery being told the prognosis is not good wishing they could turn the clock back and do all those things they'd not done correctly, done properly is too late.

Damage to your organs can be done in an instant and on a aggregate basis.

Have I got this right that any of those FFP3 mask will do? Seen those throw away looking things in screw fix, they ok to use with oa?

I never wear a mask. The Varrox lead is 3m long. It takes 45 secs before 'smoke' starts to appear from cracks in the hive, by which time I'm standing back at least 15m upwind. Some hives are beyond the reach of the Varrox so I'm further separated by a 10m jump lead to the car battery. I've never sensed OA inhalation.

Amari, those of us who need masks are using active/pressurized vaporizers such as a Sublimox. Masks with suitable filters are required with these as exposure to OA vapor is inevitable and unavoidable at times.
The 12v pan types that you are using give you sufficient time to move away from the hive and sneak in a crafty *** whilst they vape away.

Ah, many thanks. I had not appreciated the difference.

I got one for vapour so I can use it with spray paint or other chemicals as well as dust filters for sanding.
