Hi being really thick but can someone explain LOT numbers to me. I aim to extract my first crop of honey and estimate 30lb of honey but aim to buy around 100 labels.....what would my lot numbers be for the 30jars?? sounds stupid I know but I havent got a clue, thanks

It's just a number to identify an individual batch if there are any problems - so I suppose yours would be lot number 01 and the first lot for next year could also be 01 as it's a different year - I may be wrong as I've yet to process my first ever batch of about hopefully 30 pounds:)

It's totally up to you. You could use any number or code you want. You can even give each jar it's own unique number if you want. It just has to mean something to you.
You don't need to use a lot number at all if your best before date is a full date i.e. includes the day.

lot numbers are normally only used if you sell through a third party,ie a shop.
with a small amount i dont think you need to add a lot number.

If you or sell from more than one batch of honey, you need some identification to differentiate between each batch. I always keep a jar from each batch, as a check, until the use-by date expires. Then we eat it.

got into a bit of a discussion the other day on here, apparently BB date is only ment to be a couple of years! someone should have told the egyptians!

I have done my own labels and appart from the font on the sizing being a bit small 3mm not 4! they are all done and dusted.(well also not waterproof, but its going to family and friends at the moment so I can explain to them not to wipe with a wet cloth!)
