Heard of this before, but now seen it done for the first time.
(For our 2-hivers: He's even grafting 'wet' - priming the cups with diluted royal jelly!)

reading different threads on the net some say it doesn't even have to be Royal Jelly but a mix of water/honey. It appears to help them not dry out. The bees sort out the mix anyway afterwards....
 
Fascinating - is that a honey/water mix in the video? I wonder what the temp. was in the room.
 
seems like an easy way to complicate a simple job to me.
 
You can even prime the cups with COKE! It's the real thing and works. I prefer my own royal jelly.
