Thinking ahead. Could anyone recommend one suitable for a beginner please ?

Spring inspection I'm guessing will be early March 'ish' depending on weather conditions, so would like to get organised

Cheers in anticipation

An idea from Dave Cushman's site http://www.dave-cushman.net/bee/chriscard.html

There's a section within Beebase https://secure.fera.defra.gov.uk/beebase/ where you can keep online records. You need to register first.

There are other online options too, and many variations of paper record sheets.

The defra online database is so awkward to enter mutiple hives in, I even sent them an email telling them last year but they've ignored me :).

I use this excel spreadsheet forgot which BKA it came from but suits my needs. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/103057/multiplehiveinspectionsheet.xls

Best to give it another month before taking frames out to inspect.
March inspections would only need to be assessing stores and maybe feeding, or spotting any obvious dwindlers.

i use these and print them off double sided on A4 and then fold them in half into a book form

Good one mm most of the ones I have seen are too complicated, that is why I went to using a notebook. It stays in my b suit pocket. I have a look at it in the house before I go to the bees so I can see if I need to take anything with me. Records kept under the roof of a hive are ok if your other kit is stored nearby.

:thanks:
Thanks all for your replies, some great links there cheers

Think I'll go with something simple to start with, I like the idea of a single sheet broken down into one line inspection notes

This will be my first full year as a beek, so presumably in years to come with more experience under my belt I will alter them if I need to record more or for multiple hives

not worthy

I came up with this one last year nice and simple. The difficult bit it keeping up with it.

Use a wax crayon and write on the hive roof, note in book if you want to if you need to take kit to out apiary
