Hi all

Just done an inspection and noticed a number of bees loaded with a dark red pollen.

Any ideas on the flower it would be from?

yes agree with PH, Horse cheshnut, the white flower H C is red pollen and the pinked flowered variant is a darker red

lots will be coming for the next two weeks as the HC is just starting tio flower in my area this week

I also noticed some dark red pollen stored not alot just the odd cell full.
The only thing is I don't know of any horse chestnut around mine

anyone know what producers bright green pollen packet? spotted a few yesterday

will try and get some pics

Just looked in "Colour guide to pollen loads of the honey bee." (W Kirk)

Nothing very bright green.

Bluebell is greeny blue and Aubretia is sludgy green. Both in flower now.

Hawthorn is also greenish.

Do they add the same pollen to each cell? Or is what you see the last load in the cell?
