Yeah, I feared it might be that.

Nothing to be ahamed of in belonging to a minority. There are whole swathes of governement and UK policy about it, and Shappi Khorsandi makes a living out of it.

yes , i think we had better get back on track,

thanks psafloyd for the tips, i want it to be hectic and manic as i want to cram as much in as posible purely because next time we go down we can then focus on the odd items rather than the whole.

i must admit i only thought of using the bus tours to get on and off, sounds soft but i never thought to stay on it for the whole ride around the smoke, does anyone know what they charge?

some body did not know when i said the quarter mile. sorry, i was always told that the proper city of london is only the bit in the middle and is only 1/4 of a mile round the rest of london is made up from lots of towns that meet each other, mile end, black wall. popar etc, may be its me being old , does no one call it the london city or the 1/4 mile any more?

we are looking at coming down mid to late next month to do a whole day at kew and then the sunday back in the centre again.

so it sounds soft like i say but we want to SEE londons tourist spots but to not go in them. so going to see ethe london eye is on the list but we dont want to go on it due to the costs and and views dont realy do it for us.

i would like to do the buck house and the tower, but madam tussauds does not float the boat. big ben, houses of parliment, traffalgar square, nelsons column, st pauls do float the boat, quite like the idea of river cruise down and back or if it still runs the lldc( do they still called the over head light railway that?, i can remeber watching them start to put it in!!!!!!)

anyway light rail way used to go all the way to tower hill and then tower bridge and then the tower and up the embankment north side, or even south side back to the westminster area, lots of views very little costs, lovely

Errr, NO. I think that you will find that it is the square mile, although there is a quarter mile in Edinburgh.

More details <here> though.

I think you may run out of either daylight, energy, shoe leather or combination of all three as you build your itinerary. I hope the weather holds for you and you get a good experience. I reckon you will sleep well that night.

I'd do that if you were going everywhere, but you see nothing but from the bus and don't get any atmos.

And the city is The Square Mile and a good place for looking around.

Don't forget to print off some restaurant vouchers from the Martin Lewis money saving website. Also you may find details of some good hotel deals there. Think Travel Lodge have just done another £10 promotion. Although I mentioned river boat tour, forgot to say if you can time the journey for when it is getting dusk, London looks magical in the dark, all lit up.

Book now for deals, but even then not likely to find too many as it's busy here.

Look further out of town for Redbridge or Barking (or similar) as you can be i the centre of town in 30/40 minutes and yet park up and pay a reasonable rate for a room.
