What Summer flow?feeding all spring just to keep them alive and very little going in the last week.Weather forecast is not good for the next week either. Last year was really bad but I can see this year being even worse.
You've got to love beekeeping in Britain, especially wales

Yes .....last year was dire. Summer flow was rained off entirely and we have masses of bramble and rosebay here.
Colonies were groaning with dandelion then ate it all

Bramble is being worked as is clover in the warmer mornings, hives putting on substantial weight every nice day, thank the Lords the mortgage will be payed for another year!
Brambles not quite yet here but at home the clover is when the weather allows looks like this week is showers and then better weather for the weekend and next week
The next good day I'm putting cleared boards on the hives near the Hairy vetch, don't like the stuff it's making the frames sticky as hell since they have been on it hives have been propolised up like mad.
How do you find sn4 in comparison to sn5s mate in your supers for drawing out.

It rained overnight here and it's been raining again this morning but my four production colonies this morning each filled two supers before lunch and I've added another two on each one which should be filled and capped by tomorrow ....

I really should read the whole post- didn’t see the Pinocchio bit. So I Was getting ready to buy more supers- loads of jars etc in anticipation of two supers filled every lunchtime, when the flow starts. Was quite excited

Another thread been taken the piss of.

:giggle:.
I've had a head ache all along from my wife because of my time and energy I've put into it, but all worth it to be earning more money and loving what I do.

Little things.
Watching virgins emerge.
Watching other workers coming to the aid of others because I've caught one under the lugs, the care and companion ship honey bees have for one and another has me in aww!!
The lists is endless as you know and is why we do it above all other things.
Better get back to making frames I'm finding I like sn4 in my supers they draw them quicker.
The chunky ones a bit slower.
I agree with you, I love to observe my Bees and watch Pollen arriving and colour of it, so I can assess where they might be working and what species they are on. Everything I do towards my Bees welfare is never a chore, however I have to admit it takes me time, as I like to refer to Dorothy Hodges Pollen plates within her book, to make sure I am identifying correctly, and anything I think different try to identify. Always watching the hives and trying to keep ahead of their next move or source of forage. Incidently, I use Manley’s in Supers.

Why?

Not really, if you'd asked about sn4 in comparison to manley's I'd have said the extra bit of wood on the side bars of the manleys encourages them to draw the foundation quicker than the sn4
Perfect you learn something new everyday as they say, are wbc frames with straight edges Manley frames? I have some I could use (super frames)

I don't know if your both being sarcy?
Well I've had alot of help from you guys both privately and on here, I was always wanting to be both employed and self employed as a beekeeper.
Thanks folks.
I've also had alot of support from John at hedgerow.
This is down to you at the end of the day though?
Well done Mark, you're doing a great job, in difficult circumstances and winning! :laughing-smiley-014
