Thank you. I wondered about buying poly nuc hives as a possible 'selling them in a box' approach (thanks drstiton ). Would ideally like to build ply ones, but would be horrified if my poor (and I do mean poor) woodworking skills lead to escapees and possibly car crash (but will work on this). In terms of price, £175 seems a bit high given that I am new-ish to all this and could be selling them a dummy so-to-speak (though a good yardstick for me darren64). I mean, the feedback from one lot given away is that they are doing very well, but though I think my bees are healthy, doesn't mean to say that they actually are (so a good point, and one I am very conscious of). Let us say I bought some of the poly hives (i think around £27 after looking), and then added the frames...would £80-ish be OK assuming demand is there? Still seems a little high, what do you think?

Sally

other members of my assosiation usually seel for about £110 ish but only to other members, just looking in the BBKA news a company selling 2011 6 frame nucs for £170 including beepod.

At what time can you start thinking about starting a nuc using existing brood?

without wishing to advertise go to (bid 4 bees dot co dot uk) run it all together and use fullstops instead of dots!!!
If nothing else it will give you an idea of how much they are going for!!
Sorry for the advert

Hi Sally, how accessible is your bee inspector? Ours is more than happy to come and check them out if asked. Could put your mind at rest and the buyers:.)

The sale at lincoln 2day about 80 lots of bees nucs went for between £80 and £120-00 and good colonies brood box floor roof and crown board was going for £100to £140 cheap cheap

This might be quite a thick question but whats better an over wintered nuc with last years queen or a newly made up nuc with this years laying queen?

IMHO Last years nuc, because the queen is proven and the colony made it through winter.

how much is to much for a five framed nuc with bees, just so use newbies dont get ripped off if your picking one up and in standard wooden nuc ?
