I have a hive in my garden and need to move to my new apriary. It's a brood and a half plus a super, masses of bees, becoming a nuisance. The new location is about half a mile away. The queen has clipped wings. Suggestions advice comments would be appreciated

You'll need at least 2 of you to move that.

And to move it half a mile away, you'll need to move it more than 3 miles away for a week or two and then move it back to your new site.

Yes, as per the last post, you cannot - at this time of the year - move a beehive only half a mile away because bees are not clever enough to realize that their home has been moved. A few thousand bees will turn up in your back garden wondering where their home has gone and they will have a miserable death.

You will need a travel screen, a couple of hive straps, and some duck tape to seal up the entrance ... and an apiary location further than 3 miles away.

Will the local association have it at their apiary for a few weeks?
