Hi.
I noticed this PM that bees were taking the syrup I put for them. This hive has a swarm I caught in there. A lot of activity and noise. I lifted the crown board and the bees were at one end of the BB, not directly under the syrup.
Could it be that the feeding ones are robbers? Bees are cimming and going, but do not seem to be traveling to the other hives to the left of this one, rather flying the other way. Would robbers go straight to thier hive, or is it normal to go off and return later?
Thanks in advance.
Craig.

Robbers come in light and leave laden, struggling off the landing board (if there is one). I'm increasingly thinking that this "swarm" is queenless and unviable. Any sign of them drawing any comb at all?

No... A guy up the lane about 500yrds has about 30... Ahhhhhhhh. Penny drops.
Cheers Olly

I have been told to dust suspected robbers with icing sugar and then try to spot them landing at another hive entrance
