as above - it that really was how the hive was set up when viable then there was no point dummying down!!!!!

That's a very good point and very obvious when pointed out. Another good example of why I come on this forum!

I have 3 other hives at work which are nuc's in full size brood boxes with dummy boards, they have got crown boards under the feeders as i'm using a different type of feeder on those hives. I will turn the brood boxes around though so they are the warm way round. I will also reduce the entrances further than I have already.
