This is a 2-day course looking at honey bee behaviour, suitable for those with some beekeeping experience. It can be a good refresher for those who are preparing to sit the Module 6 exam. It is run as part of the NDB Short Course programme by Dan Basterfield NDB.

Description: We will explore honeybee behaviour in areas such as seasonal population variation, communication mechanisms, foraging behaviour and organisation, workload distribution, and swarming. In each of these we are looking to know what is understood to be the factors that influence honeybee behaviour, and the possible outcomes in relation to different circumstances. Through understanding the natural behaviour of honeybees, we can better prepare ourselves as beekeepers to respond to their needs.

Location: Honiton, Devon

Fee: £80 (subsidised for England & Wales students), £225 otherwise.
