Set your hive out as a bait hive.

As for swarms being mite/disease ridden... piddle and tosh.

I have taken swarms for near 30 years and not one has exhibited disease.

Frankly there is far too much concern about disease in beekeeping thanks to the somewhat skewed attitude of the trainers who in turn were trianed by the skewed attitudes.

If you sit down and work out the probability of getting infected it is pretty remote, well less than a fraction of one %. YES keep an eye out, yes be aware of the symptoms but the burning and scorching that goes on is astonishing, and largely a waste of time, money and effort.

Just read somewhere that a hive died out over winter and there was some diarrhea on the frames.... BURN it goes up the cry! What ever happened to fumigation with acetic acid?

PH (sits back and awaits the flames)
