Good question, I saw it and wondered the same thing. I’ll see if I can contact the company and ask where it is from and if it is treated with preservatives.

Courty

He gets a lot of his honey etc from Eastern Europe, I'm sure, when he had his usual stall at the Royal Welsh last year, I seem to recall checking the labels on the pollen and that was the same.

I did order some candipol on your advice, hopefully it arrives promptly.

Thank you

Try it... although may not save a dwindling colony with some other underlying problems.

We all loose a colony from time to time... often due to circumstances outside of our own control.

Candypol has egg and milk protein and 3% pollen. Made in Italy. So says the homepage.

Packed pollen for human consumption often comes from Spain. It also often has measureable AFB contamination. As does UK origin bulk pollen btw.

These feeds with additives? Save your money. Costs far outweigh benefits. Some of these foods with additives can cause dysentery if we happen to get another closed in period, which with it still being March IS a possibility.

Thanks for your advice, I'll get rid of it for sure, some Candipoline arrived today anyway

It is not possible that Candipolline like company could spread AFB.

AFB is more likely to be spread from infected honey being left out for bees by the well meaning but uninformed great unwashed as Buglife et al go on National TV telling that the bees are starving.........
and then after showing a pic of a beehive go on to show an Ivy bee and a Hummingbird hawkmoth foraging.

I have not seen any supporting evidence of properly manufactured fondant like beefeeds being contaminated with infected pollen.... have you?

There was ( suspected ) contaminated ??Chinese / imported foundation some time back... subject in another thread???

Honey and pollen can be infected with AFB spores........ foundation WAS found to be contaminated with antibiotics and non bee wax products.

Something lost in translation perhaps?

Yeghes da:cheers2:

I was reading a 1930's privately published booklet on "Foul Brood" of bees by Alfd. Ryall, Whiteway Apiary, Nr. Strooud, Glos.
He ended up describing Louis Pasteur's germ theory of disease as "the greatest scientific silliness of the age".
Reminded me of Hoppy for some reason.
