Hi
I got my colony back in July, and almost immediately the queen absconded or died. Anyway, they made an emergency queen, who mated and starting laying ready for winter.
They seem to have made it through ok so far. I have fed them some candipolline gold, can't wait for them to get going so I can make a couple of splits and have 3 or 4 hives going into winter next year.
I've made the current hive from scratch, and will be looking at making up more. Potentially have enough to be able to sell on a few to recoup some costs.
I'm divided between using a brood box for 2 5 frame nucs or 3 3 frame nucs.
Also, should I double brood the colony first or split when they're sitting over 8/9 frames?
