Clickbait..
If you cannot figure from the state of the frames this goose
is extracting to arrive at a value judgement on anything b'keepn
he has to offer..?.. then no answer to your question is going to
lodge.
We have a heat gun, use it to bend PVC tube with.

Yep - should have used a QR I reckon

Always use a hot air gun for uncapping. Far less mess...

If you burn the honey you are definitely doing it wrong.

Always use one. Works perfectly. No mess. Quick. No cappings. No aftertaste. No burnt honey. However....there is a nack. I put it in another thread I will try and find.

It's on thread 44751 but I can't copy the URL on my tablet! Put the number in the search box!

Thanks enrico

As JMB says, it only works with white cappings. If your bees produce brown cappings (i.e. no air gap behind capping) it does not work so well and you could end up with caramelised honey. I've seen videos of it working really well but it can go wrong if you use too much heat or have the wrong cappings.

I'd suggest you give it a go. It works great for me, in conjunction with an uncapping fork. I think that folk that say it caremalises the honey are overdoing it. You are just trying to roll back the cappings, and use the fork to completely open the cells. I have had a load of random folk critising the use previously. The main argument was that hot air guns have not been approved for food use. Not sure they are approved for pvc pipe bending either..

An approved use argument is as ridiculous as it gets, tops even some
made here - more yet to come, no doubt.

I'm with you on trying for oneself, these things are as cheap as chips
these days - how we discovered the suitable use on PVC over the
traditional spring bender or butane torch... took a few to find one
that worked admirably.

Smokers have not been approved for food use, nor have the materials burned in them.

I'd be more concerned about the fact your essentially using a hot hair dryer that's sucking all sorts of floating dust, dead skin and whatever else floating around your vicinity from the air, and firing it all over your exposed honey frames. Hope your filters are fine enough :D
