Greek colonies dying by the hundred

Bee colonies in the Greek prefecture of Axaia are experiencing a massive die-off. Whole apiaries have suddenly become affected. It sounds like some sort of paralysis virus to me with trembling bees clustering at the entrance and a strong smell of decomposition present.
