I used black nitrile all last season, noticed no difference to light coloured latex ones used before.... Just less rips!

Are you sure they were nitriles he gave you and not latex ? ...The latex disposables do tear very easily but you usually have to be pretty brutal with nitriles to make them tear ... they are sold for mechanics to use when repairing vehicles so they have to be pretty tough. I wear them over the top of my marigolds as its saves a lot of cleaning - even if they do get a bit ripped if you get them well stuck with propolis. I also find that the additional layer over the marigolds stops any chance of a sting going through (not that I get too many stings from my bees but they do have the occasional 'off day' and then I'm glad of the extra layer).

Are they long cuff?

Double thickness nitrile for me, bees intent on self sacrifice can get through a single layer, although 95% of the time the extra layer is unnecessary.

I've never worn nitriles that lasted the duration of inspection, end up with so many flapping bits and pieces may as well have gone gloveless.

Lol Pete....have heard this so often..............it does have SOME truth to it but we get on fine if we only have dark things to wear.

Now black woolly gloves would be a 'helpful' suggestion.....

Norty about the woolly gloves!

I've found that my bees don't like black gloves and don't like the line where dark gloves end and the suit begins. I think in the past some had problems with suits that had a black logo.

Might that suggest that what you are buying is not fit for purpose?

I use these: https://www.justgloves.co.uk/Latex-Gloves/Ansell-BiColour-LatexNeoprene-Gauntlets

And many thanks to ITLD for suggesting them.

Lol Pete.....I don't think they are listening to you.

When my teams try marigolds, with our throughput, they use at least a couple of pairs a day, so they have a using life of not more than about 40 hives.

The bi colour ones last me about two weeks a pair, so last at least 10 times as long as marigolds.

We also use a cheaper gauntlet from the same supplier for other staff, a pair lasts three or four days. That's fine as they lose the blooming things so often.

There is a sackful of orphan gloves by seasons end. We never wear unidentified used gloves for skin health sake, so they just get discarded.

Both types are dead easy to keep clean and propolis free. Just wash your hands with the gloves still on in the washing soda bucket. Spotless in seconds.

No, they are the standard blue nitriles used by most beeks, SBI, etc and it's for that reason that I DON'T buy them.
I use marigolds, I don't have 2000 hives either so I've found they last me until I decide to replace them.
