I'm pleased to say I passed the exam a few years ago.
In preparation for the exam, at our local Association, we spent a number of evenings as a group working our way through the syllabus, followed up with a lecture day at the County Assoc' covering theory & practical (incl disease with the local bee inspector).
I have not done any of the theory modules, this is essentially a practical exam of your system of beekeeping.
I laid everything out as if giving them a tour, trying to answer as many of their questions before they were asked, making it easier for me, a nervous candidate and if nothing else something for me to hold & talk about.
The last half hour of the exam was theory, basically box ticking of subjects not covered as we did the bee practical & honey processing set up. In this respect some module study would be beneficial, but I managed ok it seems.
In the letter of confirmation of my pass, I was given a number of pointers of what we covered, and areas to work on in the future.
Congratulations to the successful candidates this year, commiserations to the others.
Not all our local members passed 1st time, some doing it 2nd time around the following year.
It covers a lot of ground and is so easy to trip up.
