I have not confirmed yet but may have problems with Nosema in one of my hives, its probable that the stress of the recent weather may have taken it's toll. :(

I have an offer of testing from a local beekeeper so am intending to sample tomorrow assuming we have some good flying weather.

Obviously Fumidil has now been withdrawn; should I have a problem are there any effective alternatives for this treatment? I realise there are plenty of snake oil salesmen out there, what I'm looking for is something that has proven efficacy.

HIVE ALIVE available from www.advancescience.com claims to be effective. Tested by Dr McCormac of NUI Galway.
I have not tried it yet.
Ruary

Thymolated syrup treated so as not to separate (as in thymolated syrup recipe here), a little lemongrass to calm the bees (best bred that way) and a dash of "sea essence". Hmm...

I think I'll wander down to the beach and collect some "sea essence"
(must avoid the sewage overflow pipe though)
